Transfer Station

Clean, fast, convenient, and capable. This is the best way to describe our newly constructed Back Mountain transfer station. You'll find a clean environment, free of sharps that may pop tires. With multiple lanes for drop-off - it's easy in and easy out. We are conveniently located on the Tunkhannock highway, and capable of handling up to 125 tons of waste daily.

How it Works

Weigh In

When you first pull in you'll need to weigh your vehicle. Just pull onto the scale and when you see the green light, you can pull through.

Unload

Pull around to the transfer station and back up to the pit. Be sure the area is a clear and be mindful of barriers, chains, and paint markings.

Weigh Again

Once your are unloaded, pull back around to the scale. Once we give you the green light, park your vehicle and come on it to the office to pay by the pound. 

Regular customers can get in and out even faster

Stop in and apply for payment terms. You don't even have to get out of your vehicle. Weigh in, unload, weight out and be on your weigh. We'll send you an itemized monthly bill.

  • Only approved municipal waste is accepted

No hazardous, residual or infectious waste, or cylinders
  • For any radioactive waste detected, the cost will be at the expense of the hauler
  • Any waste not accepted will leave with you
  • Follow the signs for traffic flow - Enter the tipping floor only after given instructions to do so
  • Pay Attention to safety barriers, chains, & paint markings
  • Vehicles backing - Ensure you have a ground guide & the area is clear
  • All long-haul trucks will leave the facility turning right onto 309 North
  • No smoking, alcohol, or illegal drugs on the property
  • No cell phone use while driving on the property or unloading waste
  • No one under the age of 16 Years old is authorized to leave the vehicle
  • No scavenging of any waste
  • Any questions, please see someone in the office
  • No liquids over 1 gallon
  • No timbers over 3 feet

Costs & Materials

We have a $50 minimum at the transfer station, with additional costs per pound starting after 600 lbs. We are currently accepting household and construction wastes. Batteries and car / light truck tires without the rims are also accepted for a small fee. We ask that you do not bring any liquids over 2 gallons.

Cardboard, aluminum cans, and scrap metals, including appliances and small engines, can also be accepted at no cost whatsoever so long as it is brought in on the same load.

In the up coming months, potentially weeks, we will be taking all forms of recycling beyond just cardboard and metal. This will include glass and plastics, as well as e-recycling for all your old electronics.
